If you have aluminum blinds, handle them carefully while cleaning. They are highly flexible, and are prone to develop bends. Wipe each slat with a damp rag, after spraying it lightly with a mild detergent solution. Hot water should not be used for this purpose. If the slats are too dirty, then remove and immerse them in lukewarm water mixed with a mild detergent. Use a soft brush or damp cloth to clean each slat. Rinse with plain water and hang out to dry, before fixing them again. The same methods can be used for vinyl and PVC blinds too.
The clips that hold the vanes often break as they are mostly made of plastic. However, it is very easily replaced and sometimes, you do not even need any tools for that. Take out the broken clips out of the head rail of the blinds. If you are using a screw driver for this purpose, ensure that it does not damage the vane. While replacing the new clip, take care that it is fitted well into the head rail or else it cannot secure the vane properly. After that, insert the vane into the clips in the same alignment as other vanes are.
Don't get scared off and quit yet - this is all easier than you might be thinking. You'll probably just know what rod is right when you see it. After all, it will probably catch your eye because it's your style. So hang in there 'cause now's the fun part: shopping!
