Roll up shades or window blinds have slats that are mainly used to prevent light from entering a room. The slats are made of wood, metal, fabric or even plastic. Metal blinds are usually used for outdoors as they are weather resistant and durable. These blinds have a string or a cord which enables one to change the degree of the slats, depending on the amount of light required. Slats on these blinds can be either horizontal or vertical. Horizontal window blinds are more commonly known as Venetian blinds. The vertical roll up blinds, though not as common as horizontal ones, are easier to use and clean, and can even be used for doors.
Arched windows add a unique dimension to a room. But many find the task of covering these sophisticated windows a tough one. Well, let me tell you that, adding blinds to the arch, which is the primary part of the entire window, is quite easy. There are blinds available in the market which can cover the window and open up as required. You can pick the manual ones or go in for the motorized blinds as well. These nicely cover the arch shape, and help the area blend well with the rest of the window. So, you can either opt for pre-made blinds or order and get a custom-made one. Make sure that the type of blinds used for the arched area and lower rectangular or square part is the same, or perfectly complement each other.
Secure them firmly with the nails so that they can withstand the weight of the curtain and the rod. Now, fix the rods into the brackets. Once the rods are attached, you can hang the curtains. The curtains are provided with hooks or they have pre-stitched loops through which the rods can be passed.
